Chapter 19: Birthday Gift

Tiansheng Continent’s three thousand Dao Provinces covered a vast expanse, and beyond those three thousand Dao Provinces, the land was further divided into five great regions.

They were the Eastern Region, the Northern Desert, the Western Heaven, the Southern Wastes, and the Central Plains.

Among them, the Central Plains was the strongest, while the other four regions were more or less evenly matched in strength.

As for the Southern Wastes, because the environment there was so harsh, most factions left for other regions once they had grown strong enough.

Yet within the Southern Wastes, there existed an extremely terrifying force known as the Heavenly Demon Sect.

Rumor had it that the Heavenly Demon Sect’s lineage had been passed down by a great demonic cultivator from the Immortal Realm, which was how the present-day Heavenly Demon Sect had come to be.

At this moment, within the Heavenly Demon Sect, all of its disciples had originally been occupied with their own affairs, but in the next instant, they seemed to sense something and all looked toward the central region of the Heavenly Demon Sect in terror.

There, a dense black surge of demonic qi shot into the heavens, as though it meant to destroy heaven and earth.

“Who was it? Who killed my little brother?!”

In the center of the Heavenly Demon Sect, a white-haired young man sat cross-legged on the ground, while the furious aura around him sent his long white hair flying wildly.

He was the Sect Master of the Heavenly Demon Sect, and also the elder brother of the Heaven-Stealing Demon Venerable, the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor.

Just moments ago, he had sensed the death of the younger brother tied to him by blood.

How could he possibly endure that? His little brother had been his only family left in this world.

Whoever the other party was, he would definitely kill them and avenge his little brother.

Thus, in the very next moment, the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor no longer hesitated. He shot into the sky and rushed toward the Central Plains.

He could sense that the direction in which his brother’s aura had last vanished was the Central Plains.

But just as the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor was about to leave the Heavenly Demon Sect, several figures rushed out from the depths of the sect and stopped him.

Looking at the five figures before him, the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor frowned tightly.

“What? Are you planning to stop me?”

The ones who had rushed out were the Patriarchs of the Heavenly Demon Sect. Without exception, all five were powerful Saint Emperor experts.

“No. We are only here to remind you, Sect Master, that the righteous and demonic paths of Tiansheng Continent stand in opposition. If you go charging into the Central Plains with such an overwhelming display, I am afraid it will provoke the dissatisfaction of those sacred lands.”

An old man slowly stepped forward. Though his appearance was plain and unremarkable, in his youth he too had been a powerful demonic cultivator whose name had shaken all of Tiansheng Continent.

“That is right. We ask that Sect Master think it over carefully.”

The other four Saint Emperors also spoke in unison to persuade him.

But the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor was in the middle of his rage. How could he possibly listen to them?

“What is there to fear from that bunch of trash? If they are dissatisfied, let them make their move.”

“No matter how many come, I will kill them all!”

“Now get out of my way!”

Sensing the unstoppable aura of the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor, the five Patriarchs let out a sigh and could only step aside.

Very soon, the Heavenly Demon Saint Emperor vanished from their senses.

“Nothing will happen to Sect Master this time, right?”

One of the Patriarchs spoke with worry on his face.

“Probably not. Sect Master himself is already a peak Saint Emperor expert, and he also has an Immortal Artifact in his possession. He should be fine.”

Another Patriarch spoke, and the others could only force themselves to relax as well.

Across all of Tiansheng Continent, there should not be more than five people capable of doing anything to Sect Master.

They could only hope that the one who had killed Sect Master’s little brother was not one of those five.

Very soon, the Heavenly Demon Sect returned to its former calm.

......

After a short while, the Heaven-Devouring Tiger finally carried Lu Xunxian and his family to Chengtian Province.

Once they arrived within Chengtian Province, Lu Xunxian had Wangcai shrink back down to his normal size.

After all, he was not someone who enjoyed flaunting himself in public. If he could keep a low profile, then naturally that was what he preferred.

The Myriad Treasures Pavilion of Chengtian Province was located within a city known as Chengtian City.

Though it was called a city, in Lu Xunxian’s eyes, its size was enough to rival some of the more remote Dao Provinces.

“Father, I heard that Chengtian City is connected to the Immortal Realm. Is that true?”

At that moment, Lu Qingyun tugged at Lu Xunxian’s clothes and asked.

“Oh? And who told you that?”

Lu Xunxian was a little curious.

“It was my teacher at the academy.”

“The teacher said that Chengtian City sits atop Ascension Mountain, and that on Ascension Mountain there is a road leading to the Immortal Realm.”

Lu Qingyun blinked as she spoke.

Lu Xunxian suddenly understood, but he shook his head and said, “Although it is unfortunate, there really is no connection to the Immortal Realm here.”

“Is that so?”

A disappointed look immediately appeared on Lu Qingyun’s face.

At the side, Lu Xiaoyao could not bear to watch any longer and thumped his chest as he promised,

“Little Sister, if you want it, then Big Brother promises you that one day, I will connect Chengtian City to the Immortal Realm.”

Hearing her brother’s promise, Lu Qingyun immediately beamed again.

“Big Brother, you are the best.”

“You had better cultivate properly, then. Only that way will you be able to connect Chengtian City to the Immortal Realm sooner.”

Watching the interaction between the siblings, Lu Xunxian could not help but smile.

But then he thought of something and could not help shaking his head.

Even with his current strength, connecting Chengtian City to the Immortal Realm would not be an easy task. If he took another step forward, then perhaps he might be able to do it.

Shaking his head and casting aside his thoughts, Lu Xunxian took the two little ones by the hand.

“All right. Let us first go inside and buy a few things for Wangcai, and then Father will take you around Chengtian City for some fun.”

With that, Lu Xunxian led the two little ones toward the gates of Chengtian City, one in each hand, while Wangcai followed behind them.

After paying a full four Mid-Grade Spirit Crystals, the group was allowed to enter Chengtian City.

The moment he stepped inside, Lu Xunxian’s brows knit almost imperceptibly.

But before he could look into it further, his daughter tugged excitedly on his sleeve and said, “Father, look quickly! It is a White Jade Horse!”

Not far away, a crystal-clear horse slowly passed by. Its whole body seemed to be formed from translucent jade, dazzling to behold.

“If you like it, Father will get one for you.”

Lu Xunxian spoke softly.

Although a White Jade Horse was somewhat precious, if his daughter liked it, then he would simply get it for her.

At those words, Lu Qingyun looked a little conflicted. Grasping the hem of her skirt, she lowered her head and said, “But Father, if I have a White Jade Horse, then what about Wangcai?”

At those words, Wangcai was deeply moved. He had not expected the young miss to actually think of him.

But before he could say anything, Lu Xunxian dampened the mood as he replied, “It is fine. Getting a White Jade Horse does not mean you are chasing Wangcai away. Just accept it.”

“Besides, your birthday is coming up soon, so we can count it as your birthday gift.”

“Hooray! I love Father the most!”

Lu Qingyun jumped up and kissed Lu Xunxian on the cheek.

“Then what about me? What about me, Father? I want a birthday gift too!”

Lu Xiaoyao immediately grew anxious, and Lu Xunxian smiled as he picked him up.

“You have one too. You have one too.”

Only then did the anxious look on Lu Xiaoyao’s face vanish.

But not long after, that White Jade Horse stopped before them.

“I heard someone wants my White Jade Horse?”

Seated atop the White Jade Horse was a young man dressed all in white, perfectly matched to the horse beneath him.

He was none other than Qin Ziyuan, the son of Chengtian City’s City Lord.
