Chapter 62. Please Do Not Lie (2)
I glanced at the plant weapons beside me, which were giving off a fragrant scent.
Since there was even Explosive Grass, maybe there was a plant with some name like seduction grass too…
Thinking that, I got up and examined the flowerpots closely.
A short while later, among the words attached to the flowerpots, I found a flower with these words engraved on it.
Rose of Temptation
It looked exactly like a small wild rose, but when I tried smelling it just in case, something very strange(?) rose up inside me.
Ugh. I hurriedly ran to the window, took a deep breath of fresh air, and glanced at the flowers looking at me with loose grins(?).
To think there was even a flower that toyed with people’s hearts.
Damn it. How am I supposed to face Rene later?
Luna, that girl. I will have to scold her properly later.
“Welcome back. Did you finish fixing everything?”
At Narsh’s words, Rene and I, who were carrying the tools and trash bin downstairs, smiled slightly and nodded.
Narsh smiled softly, rummaged through the pants pocket of the clothes she had changed into, and brought us a small plate engraved with some design.
Since I was holding the trash bin filled with glass shards, Rene accepted it in my place.
I asked,
“What is this?”
“It is our family crest. I do not know if it will ever happen, but if you come to the capital, Avante, please be sure to visit the Imid Family.”
We looked at Narsh’s face and nodded to show that we would.
At that, she smiled brightly, turned around, and walked toward the table in the middle of the hall.
I came down the stairs and set the trash bin aside in one corner.
There was a separate place to dispose of broken glass later.
Rene looked at me, smiled softly, then stood by a nearby table and began removing her gloves and the towel wrapped around her head.
I looked at her for a moment, then raised my head and looked ahead.
Kal and Exel were sitting at one table, glaring at the tabletop while thinking about something.
Huh? Are they playing janggi?
At that moment, Narsh crossed the hall and went over to Exel, who was playing janggi with Kal, then tapped his broad back.
When Exel’s expressionless head turned slightly, she lifted her head with a bright smile. Exel was nearly twice Narsh’s height.
She held up a plate like the one she had given us.
“You said we should make sure we never meet again, but since we have met again like this, those words have lost their meaning. So now I will say this. Let us meet again next time.”
“What is this?”
“Our family crest. If you come to the capital, please stop by the Imid Family. By then, I probably will not even be able to rise from my bed, so come and tell me a fun story or two.
And do not forget to bring flowers when you come. I prefer wildflowers to ones grown in a greenhouse.”
At Narsh’s words, Exel quietly looked at her, shoved the plate he was holding roughly into his pants pocket, and turned his head again.
At that sight, Narsh smiled brightly and looked at his back.
Then Exel, who had turned his head forward, let out a dazed voice.
“Huh? When did this move here?”
“Hahaha~ Check. What will you do? If I win, please be sure to keep your promise to guide us safely out of the forest.”
Exel stared hard at the janggi board with a slightly troubled expression, and Rene and I smiled softly at the sight of them.
At that moment, Rene grabbed my shoulder.
“Honey? Come here and carry the packed lunches.”
“Ah, yes.”
I followed her into the kitchen, gathered the packed lunches she had prepared in advance on the dining table, and carried them outside.
There were ten portions in all.
Since Exel was there, the quantity was no joke.
While receiving Rene’s displeased gaze with my whole body, I walked out unsteadily with all ten packed lunches held against my chest.
At that, Exel frowned, then turned that frowning face toward me as I placed the packed lunches on a nearby table.
“Reed, I have not lost yet.”
“Really? But I only did what was ordered.”
Exel turned his head and looked at Kal, who had his arms crossed. Kal grinned in that posture.
“Shall I take back one move?”
Exel bared his teeth, shook his head, and glared at the janggi board again.
Kal smiled with a pleased expression, glanced at Jeff, who was lying facedown on the table and snoring, then made a somewhat bitter face.
“Could we not rest for about a day, my lady?”
Kal said that to Narsh, who was carefully packing a backpack on the table.
Narsh spoke without turning her head.
“No. I feel sorry for Mr. Jeff, but I do not have time. From now on, I want to do everything I can in advance. To do that, I have to return home even a day sooner. I am sorry, Kal.”
“Not at all. I was the one who brought you here in the first place, my lady.”
Let us not mention that Kal’s eyes had turned a little red.
At that moment, there was a loud clatter, and Luna and Jimant came down from the second floor.
She was holding some bottle in her hand. It seemed to be another medicine.
Luna glanced at me and said,
“Where is Jeff?”
When I raised my hand and pointed at the table where he was lying facedown, Jimant stood on the stairs with his arms crossed and spoke with a face that looked as if he found this laughable.
“Fine. How are you going to make him drink it?”
“You can look forward to it.”
After saying that, Luna approached Jeff with the bottle.
Jeff was still sleeping facedown. He must have been very tired.
But what is this about?
I asked Jimant, who was standing beside me with a fierce smile.
“What is she doing now?”
“That girl suggested we make a bet. So I agreed. There is nothing to lose.”
I smiled broadly at his words and asked.
It is probably something about going back quickly.
“What did you bet?”
At that, Jimant answered with the same broad smile.
“If Jeff drinks the medicine Luna made from those dreadful ingredients, I agreed to return immediately tomorrow. In the opposite case, Luna agreed to follow me of her own accord.”
As expected. But children have an incredible magic that completely ignores every unchanging law in the world.
Though I doubt Luna would really do that.
“What will you do if she loses and still insists she will not go?”
I smiled faintly as I asked him.
At that, Jimant turned his head and looked at me with a strange expression. Then he soon made an ah face and slapped his own forehead.
Yes, what have you remembered?
“Ah, Mr. Han, you are human, are you not? I am sorry. Your feeling is so elf-like that I forgot. Well, if she throws a tantrum and says she will not go, there is nothing else to do.”
He smiled fiercely and raised his fist.
“I will have no choice but to beat her soundly and take her with me.”
“That will never happen.”
Luna turned her head and spoke with the bottle in her hand, and Jimant slowly lowered the fist he had raised as he said,
“I know that too, you little brat. I know you do not lie. But Mr. Han was curious, was he not? So I only revealed a little of what I truly feel.”
“Uncle, what you truly feel is that you want to take me even if you have to knock me unconscious?”
“Of course. It would be better than a single rose.”
After hearing their conversation, I briefly turned my head and looked at Rene, who was making something in the kitchen.
What is she thinking right now?
An elf lady who had told the same person two lies since the day she was born.
At Jimant’s words, Luna huffed and sharply turned her head away, then strode forward confidently.
Then she placed the bottle on the table with a thud and reached out to wake Jeff.
However, her hand stopped halfway, and Jimant quietly smiled.
“Are you giving up? If my guess is right, even if he drinks it well, he will spit it back out.”
Luna did not answer Jimant. Instead, she reached out and picked up the beer mug sitting on the next table.
Kal, who had been glaring at the janggi board, turned his head and quietly watched her. Luna held up the beer mug in her hand and said,
“It has gone flat. I will bring out a fresh one.”
Kal smiled softly and thanked her, but Luna did not listen to his words.
She immediately turned around and stood in front of Jeff.
Then she placed the beer mug she was holding on the table, picked up the bottle, opened its lid, and poured all of its contents into the mug.
The dark brown beer now turned pitch-black. Seeing that, Kal, Jimant, and I grimaced.
“Ugh. That color is something else. How is he supposed to drink that?”
However, Luna had a face that said she did not care what expressions we made. She raised her palm and thumped Jeff’s back. Since her hands were small, it did not make that loud of a sound.
“Jeff, Jeff! Stop sleeping like that and get up!”
At that, Jeff slowly opened his eyes with a dazed face and raised his upper body.
Rubbing his eyes, he said,
“Mm, what is it? Yaaawn! Is that you, Luna?”
“Yes. Stop sleeping and get ready. You said you were going back, did you not?”
“Mm, damn it. I would like to rest a little more. Huh? Is this beer?”
Luna nodded with the same expressionless face as always. Jeff smiled softly, grabbed the beer mug, and lifted it.
At that moment, it was only natural that Jimant’s face twisted mercilessly and that the gazes of everyone in the hall focused on Jeff.
And Jeff was not such an easy person either.
He was about to lift the mug and drink, but then he looked at the beer for a moment, frowned, and said,
“Huh? What is this? What kind of beer is black?”
“It is because it is dark beer.”
At Luna’s simple answer, Jeff’s frowning face brightened again as he said,
“Ohhh! Is that so? Dark beer. I like that.”
He put it to his lips and gulped it down, while we watched him with frowns on our faces.
Ugh. I wonder what it tastes like.
Jimant, who was standing on the stairs, let out an exaggerated sigh and brought his palm to his forehead.
Jeff emptied all the beer in his hand, burped, and lowered the mug.
“Khmm~ Ugh~ What kind of taste is this? Huh? But why is everyone looking at me… urp?!”
Jeff hurriedly covered his mouth, and Luna, who was standing beside him, slowly lifted the corners of her lips.
