Chapter 10: Twin-Tails Increase Attack Speed

Within a certain city's inn in the Qianyuan Empire, a dense crowd of figures lay prostrated on the ground.

Every single one of them was apprehensive, not daring to even breathe too loudly.

A large number of people had already gathered outside the inn, and they began to whisper among themselves.

"Have you heard? They say the lords from the Haoran Sect have arrived!"

"I saw them. It looks like they are searching for something. What could possibly warrant so many powerful experts from the Haoran Sect coming out to search?"

"I do not know, but whatever they are looking for must be of extraordinary importance."

"Is that not obvious? One of those men looks like the Sect Master of the Haoran Sect himself!"

"Really? Even the Sect Master has set out personally?"

"None of you have the right story. From what I have gathered, it seems the daughter of the Haoran Sect Master has gone missing!"

"Hiss! If that is true, it explains why the Sect Master of the Haoran Sect appeared here."

Meanwhile, inside a guest room on the second floor of the inn, five or six figures were gathered.

The leader was a refined, middle-aged man.

He wore a set of cyan robes and radiated an aura of natural authority that demanded respect without the need for anger.

Among the others, one or two were also middle-aged men, while the rest were elders.

The group stared solemnly at the jade pendant in the hand of Ji Wushuang.

This jade pendant was a treasure that functioned as a tracking device, allowing them to accurately determine Ji Wuyue's location.

Yet now, the jade pendant has appeared here.

"Could something have happened to Yue'er?" an elder asked, breaking the silence as a look of contemplation crossed his face.

As soon as he finished speaking, Ji Wushuang shook his head. "This was likely left behind by the girl herself. With her clever and mischievous nature, this fits her style of doing things perfectly."

"But if that is the case, will we not be able to find Yue'er?"

"If Yue'er has encountered some misfortune, what shall we do..."

"The fact that there is no news from the sect means that Yue'er's Soul Lamp is still stable."

"Even if her life is not in danger, what if someone with designs on her body finds her? Although Yue'er is a genius, her current cultivation is still weak. If she truly encounters a flower-plucking thief..."

"Never mind a flower-plucking thief; if those demonic faction forces discover Yue'er's identity, that would be a true disaster!"

The men spoke one after another, causing Ji Wushuang's brow to furrow even deeper. He felt as though his heart was a tangled mess of thread.

He spoke softly, "If Yue'er had truly fallen into the hands of those demonic heretics, they would not be this quiet."

"That is true. Perhaps Yue'er is simply out traveling somewhere."

"In any case, have the sect disciples increase their search efforts and maintain a constant watch for any related information." After Ji Wushuang finished speaking, he glanced toward the door.

He continued, "The shopkeeper outside may come in. I have questions for you."

The inn's shopkeeper, who had been waiting outside for a long time, immediately hurried in. He was a round, portly man who wobbled as he walked, his clothes already drenched in sweat.

Upon reaching Ji Wushuang and the others, the shopkeeper quickly knelt down and said in terror, "Lords, please ask whatever you wish. This humble one will answer everything he knows."

Ji Wushuang nodded and spoke with an expressionless face. "I am asking you, did anyone stay in this guest room a few days ago?"

The shopkeeper thought carefully before answering, "In reply to the Lord, a woman did indeed stay here a few days ago."

"Oh? What did that woman look like? Speak the truth quickly." Before Ji Wushuang could speak, one of the elders interjected with the question.

The shopkeeper immediately said, "That woman's appearance was ordinary, but her voice was extremely pleasant, which did not quite match her looks. She appeared to be only about eleven or twelve years old."

"That is Yue'er, without a doubt. The little girl even used a disguise; she is quite clever."

Although Ji Wushuang said this, his heart was filled with anxiety. He spoke again: "Do you still remember her appearance? Draw it immediately."

The shopkeeper instantly began to sketch her likeness. Unfortunately, this was destined to be a futile effort.

Ji Wuyue changed her appearance frequently, and she had only stopped doing so after being captured by the members of the Blood Demon Sect.

From that moment on, the winds of change slowly began to stir across the Shengyuan Continent.

Three days later, in a small courtyard on the outskirts of Jiang City.

Jiang Xie was leisurely holding a cup of tea, savoring it slowly.

Behind him, the little girl was kneading his shoulders with a rhythmic touch.

One of them wore a mask while the other was in disguise; neither knew the other's true appearance. However, this did not hinder the scene from appearing exceptionally harmonious.

Yet, Ji Wuyue was different now than she had been two days ago.

The difference did not refer to her facial features, but rather her current hairstyle.

The original single ponytail had turned into twin-tails at some point.

The high twin-tails hung down on either side. If it were not for the fact that her face was not particularly cute, it would have been a truly beautiful sight.

Ji Wuyue did not like twin-tails. She had always worn a single ponytail. She would never have changed it if Jiang Xie had not insisted on it.

On the other side, Old Wu was lost in thought, his gaze occasionally drifting toward Ji Wuyue.

To be precise, he was looking at her twin-tails.

He had been pondering a question that had plagued him for three days.

That question stemmed from a conversation between Jiang Xie and Ji Wuyue a few days prior: "Little Yue'er, this hairstyle of yours is not good-looking."

"Nonsense. What is wrong with this young lady's hairstyle?"

"I think you should change to twin-tails. What do you think?"

"I think... this young lady will certainly not change it." Ji Wuyue turned her head away, skillfully unbinding her hair before tying it back up into twin-tails.

Seeing this, Jiang Xie revealed a satisfied smile.

"This young lady does not understand what is so good about twin-tails," Ji Wuyue said with disdain.

Jiang Xie gave a mysterious smile. "These things are like a horse's reins; they provide an attack speed bonus."

Speed bonus? Old Wu had never understood the meaning of those words.

On the surface, it seemed easy to interpret as simply increasing movement speed.

But Jiang Xie's words clearly did not refer to ordinary speed.

What could it be? As he thought, his mind drifted back to the previous sentence: "Like a horse's reins..."

A horse's reins... Thinking of this, he inexplicably imagined a horse and pictured Jiang Xie as the rider on its back.

Jiang Xie held the reins with both hands, just as one would hold twin-tails.

BOOM!

Old Wu seemed to understand something.

His entire being shuddered as excitement surged in his heart.

He could not even stop himself from running up to Jiang Xie and shouting loudly, "Young Master, I know! I know!"

Jiang Xie and Ji Wuyue looked at him simultaneously.

"What do you know?" Jiang Xie was surprised.

Old Wu had been out of sorts for the past few days.

"I know the meaning of the words you said three days ago!" Old Wu became increasingly excited.

"What words?" For a moment, even Jiang Xie was confused.

"It is that sentence about how they can increase attack speed! I understand what it means now."

As soon as he said this, Ji Wuyue became even more curious; she also wanted to know.

"Oh, that!" Jiang Xie did not care at first, but suddenly, he seemed to realize something and quickly shouted, "Do not say it!"

Unfortunately, Old Wu's words had already come out.

"So the meaning is that during... that time... one can use them for leverage... and then, there is a different sensation..."

"You blundering fool..." Jiang Xie pressed his hand to his forehead. He was truly exasperated by this troublesome old fellow.

Behind him, Ji Wuyue's face turned red at a visible rate.

Although she was still young, she was not entirely ignorant of such matters.

Jiang Xie could clearly feel the strength in the small hands on his shoulders increase several times over.

Unlike a few days ago, Ji Wuyue's sealed cultivation had already been undone.

This strength was not something he, at the third level of the Body Tempering Realm, could withstand.

Jiang Xie felt a piercing pain, but he could not show any weakness.

He had to endure it, or else he would lose his dignity! That was absolutely not allowed!

At this moment, he truly had a grievance but could not voice it!

Fortunately, the process did not last too long. After a moment, Ji Wuyue ran straight into the room.

Jiang Xie's heart sank.

It was over.

No more twin-tails to look at. It was all because of that nuisance Old Wu.

Was this something that could be said out loud?

Old Wu clearly realized he had caused trouble as well, and he ran off while laughing foolishly.

A while later, Ji Wuyue pushed the door open once again.

When Jiang Xie looked up, he was stunned.

It was still twin-tails.

The little girl had not changed it back.

This was truly beyond his expectations.
