Chapter 5: Do You Want Me to Torture You?

“Mhm, we are almost home.”

Jiang Xie paid her no mind and simply tugged on the chain in his hand as he continued forward.

Ji Wuyue only felt a tremendous force yank at her neck, dragging her forward at once.

She stumbled along the way and nearly fell flat on her face.

“You—” Ji Wuyue was furious, but then she remembered that she had already fallen into this devil’s hands, with no idea what kind of future awaited her.

A strong sense of unease rose in her heart.

She had never been treated like this before, and in the end she still could not help wanting to know why Jiang Xie had captured her.

Could it really be, as he had said, to vent his lust?

At the thought of that, she shuddered.

As they walked, Ji Wuyue’s eyes rolled about, and then she abruptly changed her manner and began to speak in a sweet, coaxing voice. “Brother Jiang Xie, could you please let me go?”

“No.”

“Brother Jiang Xie, you are the nicest. Please let me go, all right? Or why do you not go catch someone else instead?”

“No.”

Seeing that Jiang Xie was utterly unmoved, Ji Wuyue burned with anger, yet still forced herself not to show it.

She merely changed the subject and continued asking questions.

“Brother Jiang Xie, why did you capture me?”

“Because you are useful.”

“And what exactly are you going to do with me?”

“What do you think? Of course I am going to use you to vent my lust.”

Jiang Xie suddenly found that teasing this little girl was rather enjoyable.

Besides, her voice was quite pleasant to hear. It was soothing in its own way.

“You! You shameless pervert! Lecher! You will not even spare children!”

“At your age, and you think about such things every day? Why do you not just die! Once I escape, I will have you hung from the city gate so everyone can see what kind of filthy lecher you are!”

In the end, Ji Wuyue still failed to hold back and burst into loud curses.

Her expression was full of contempt, and the disgust in her eyes was not concealed in the slightest.

Only...

Smack!

A crisp sound rang out.

Ji Wuyue froze.

Her gaze went blank as she stared at the figure before her.

“You... you actually hit me?”

Ji Wuyue truly was stunned.

This was the first time in her life anyone had ever struck her.

Back in the Haoran Sect, which elder in the sect had not cherished her so carefully that they feared she might melt in their hands?

As for her father, he had spoiled her to the utmost.

Those senior and junior brothers of hers had all treated her with the greatest respect.

Even when she caused major trouble in the sect, at most she was scolded a little.

It could be said that, in Ji Wuyue’s memory, she had never once been hit by anyone.

She had always been the one doing the hitting.

But now, she had actually been struck by a little brat!

“No one has ever dared to hit me!” Ji Wuyue glared at Jiang Xie viciously, looking as though she wanted to devour him alive.

There was no doubt that if her cultivation had not been sealed, she would already have rushed at him.

“Not convinced?”

Jiang Xie slowly walked toward her.

The smile had vanished from his face.

His gaze had become incomparably sharp.

Those pitch-black eyes seemed to carry a force that could swallow a person whole.

Ji Wuyue could not help shivering.

If Old Wu had been there, he would have known that Jiang Xie without a smile was the most frightening of all.

Jiang Xie might sound calm on the surface, speaking evenly, laughing and chatting, sometimes even giving others the impression of a righteous prodigy with how warm and effortless his words could be.

But in truth, once Jiang Xie became serious, his methods were swift and ruthless, and he acted entirely as he pleased, impossible for anyone to read.

He was every bit the great devil he was rumored to be.

That was simply the kind of person he was: neither wholly righteous nor wholly evil.

Perhaps it was because he had grown up within a demonic power and had seen too much scheming against scheming.

Seen too much darkness, too many conspiracies, too many cruel scenes.

Or perhaps it was because he had survived too many brushes with death, too many assassination attempts.

Or perhaps it was because of the agony of every “death.”

That was what had shaped this sort of temperament in him.

It was also one of the ways he protected himself.

If one wanted to survive within the demonic powers,

then one’s methods had to be ruthless.

And it was precisely because of that that, despite lacking any cultivation talent, he had still managed to secure a place for himself within the Jiang Family.

“I am not convinced! No one gets to hit me!”

Ji Wuyue’s spoiled young-lady temperament was revealed in full.

Even in such circumstances, she showed not the slightest fear.

Jiang Xie’s gaze on her only grew deeper.

Smack!

Another slap landed.

Clear handprints appeared on Ji Wuyue’s face, one on each side.

“Waaah! Sob, sob, sob!”

Ji Wuyue cried.

This was the first time she had ever cried in front of an outsider, apart from her father.

She was the daughter of the sect master of Dongzhou’s number one righteous sect, a young genius already in the Yuan Control Realm.

A beautiful young girl of peerless looks, with countless admirers among the great powers.

And yet, for the first time in her life, she felt utterly wronged.

“Sob... sob... you villain, you will suffer retribution! When my father arrives, he will make sure you suffer for this!”

Ji Wuyue’s eldest-young-lady temper had not diminished in the slightest.

Even now, she was still threatening Jiang Xie.

Unfortunately for her, Jiang Xie was not afraid in the least.

He did not care whether she was some saintess or disciple from a great power.

Once she arrived on his territory, even a dragon would have to lie still.

“Oh? Then let us talk once he gets here.” Jiang Xie’s expression remained calm.

“Hmph. When my father gets here, I will make him capture you and turn you into my pet!” Ji Wuyue said smugly.

It was as if that wonderful scene had already appeared before her eyes.

Jiang Xie looked at her as though she were an idiot.

Without the slightest mercy, he crushed her hopes.

“If I am not mistaken, you sneaked out, did you not?”

“...”

Ji Wuyue had nothing to say.

“And if I am still not mistaken, you altered your appearance and never revealed your identity along the way, correct?”

“...”

A dull ache rose in Ji Wuyue’s chest.

“And if I am not mistaken yet again, to keep yourself from being dragged back, you even hid the treasure your father placed on you so he could track your location, did you not?”

“....”

Ji Wuyue’s face turned deathly pale.

She staggered back several steps, looking as though she might collapse at any moment.

Only now did she realize it.

At present, the sect had no idea where she was, and they could not find her and even if they could, it would not be quickly...

Otherwise, after being away for so many days, she would have been dragged back long ago...

Seeing the expression on her face, Jiang Xie was very satisfied.

Sometimes people needed to be confronted with reality before they could understand their true situation.

“All right, stop hoping for rescue. I happen to be short one little maid, so I will make do with you.”

Jiang Xie tugged on the chain in his hand and continued walking forward.

Ji Wuyue’s eyes were vacant.

She was still trapped in the words Jiang Xie had just spoken.

Father cannot find me?

Then... does that mean I really cannot escape?

Am I going to be tormented by this fellow every day? Ordered around like a servant?

At the thought of that miserable life, worse than death, her whole body trembled uncontrollably.

“No! I refuse!”

“As expected of a pampered young lady. You have quite the temper.”

Jiang Xie let out a cold laugh. With a yank on the iron chain in his hand, Ji Wuyue’s body was dragged sharply toward him.

The distance between them suddenly became very close.

The moment she saw that ugly masked face, Ji Wuyue smashed her fist toward it without hesitation.

Jiang Xie’s eyes flashed. He caught the hand she had swung at his face, then flung it aside and seized Ji Wuyue by the chin as he said coldly, “You had best not force me to lose my temper.”

“If you have the guts... then kill me...”

Her words came out slurred and indistinct, but her gaze remained fixed on Jiang Xie with unwavering resolve.

Ji Wuyue was not stupid.

She was testing him, testing where his bottom line lay.

Jiang Xie stared at her for quite a while, then suddenly laughed.

“You win. I truly cannot kill you.”

“Heh.” A smug smile appeared on Ji Wuyue’s face.

But in the very next moment, Jiang Xie grabbed her by the throat and lifted her into the air.

“N-no... do not...”

At that instant, Ji Wuyue was afraid.

She could only feel her breathing grow difficult, while her face slowly flushed red.

“It is true that I cannot kill you. But that does not mean I cannot torment you. I have countless ways of making your life worse than death. If you would like to try them, then by all means continue behaving as you did just now.”

Jiang Xie’s faint voice drifted to her ears.

It was like ten-thousand-year ice, cold enough to pierce straight to the bone.

“I-I... will not... anymore...”

Ji Wuyue was afraid. Truly afraid.

The feeling was too agonizing.

As a little princess who had been cherished and protected in the palm of everyone’s hand since childhood, she had no resistance at all to such fear.
