Chapter 4: One Year

After accepting the King Realm great demon’s natal essence, Lu Xunxian frowned and asked,

“Do you have a name?”

“Replying to Master, I do not.”

The King Realm great demon hurriedly answered.

“In that case, I shall bestow one upon you. Judging from your fur… Wangcai. That shall be your name.”

After pondering for a moment and giving the King Realm great demon a careful look, Lu Xunxian decisively bestowed the name Wangcai upon it.

Hearing Lu Xunxian’s words, the King Realm great demon felt that this name seemed to carry immense karmic significance.

But since it had been given by Lu Xunxian, it naturally would not refuse. It nodded at once.

“Many thanks, Master, for bestowing a name upon me.”

Then, thinking of something else, Lu Xunxian asked again, “What kind of demon beast are you?”

“Replying to Master, I am a third-rank Spirit-class demon beast, a Heaven-Devouring Tiger.”

As it said this, a trace of pride could not help appearing on its face.

Lu Xunxian raised a brow.

“Is third-rank Spirit-class very high?”

One could not really blame Lu Xunxian. He knew very little about the affairs of the cultivation world, having only entered it halfway through his life.

On the Tiansheng Continent, demon beasts were ranked primarily by the grade of their bloodline. The higher the bloodline grade, the faster their cultivation speed.

From low to high, they were divided from the ninth rank to the first rank, and that entire tier was known as spirit beasts.

Beyond that came immortal beast bloodlines.

As for the saint beast bloodlines above immortal beasts, those were not something the current Heaven-Devouring Tiger could even dream of.

“Naturally. A third-rank Spirit-class demon beast is all but guaranteed to reach the Emperor Realm, so long as it does not perish.”

“Is the Emperor Realm very strong?”

Lu Xunxian asked again.

That question made the Heaven-Devouring Tiger fall silent on the spot.

It had nearly forgotten that the person before it was a terrifying existence who could casually produce ten thousand cubic meters of Top-grade Spirit Liquid without changing expression.

Not to mention its own mere third-rank Spirit-class bloodline, even an immortal beast would probably be nothing remarkable in front of this man.

But at that moment, the two infants in Lu Xunxian’s arms burst into loud cries.

Only then did Lu Xunxian realize that he had forgotten the children had not eaten yet.

As he sent a strand of spiritual energy into them, their hunger faded away. Only then did the two children stop crying, their innocent wide eyes curiously looking around at everything surrounding them.

“You. Go and bring me a female beast—one that is powerful, and one that has milk.”

Back when Feng Qingyu had still been with him, she had refused to nurse them, so the two children had been raised on cow’s milk.

But now that he had the means, Lu Xunxian naturally intended to give them better conditions.

“Yes, Master!”

After the Heaven-Devouring Tiger left, Lu Xunxian turned and looked at the open stretch of land before him.

Now that he had broken through to the peak of the Saint King Realm, he had completely mastered the power within his body.

With a single thought from Lu Xunxian, the earth trembled and the mountains shook. In the next instant, an enormous mass of stone rose up from the ground.

Then, under Lu Xunxian’s will, the stone before him was carved by his immense power.

Before long, it had become an exquisitely crafted house.

And this would be the place where Lu Xunxian and his son and daughter would live from now on.

Qingfeng Sacred Land.

Once Feng Qingyu immersed herself in cultivation, she lost track of time. In the blink of an eye, a year had passed.

And during that year, the number of times she thought of Lu Xunxian and their son and daughter could be counted on one hand.

What was far more obvious, however, was the improvement in her realm.

In just a single year, she had advanced directly from the late Spirit Entry Realm to the peak of the Earth Realm.

Although Feng Qingyu’s talent was indeed extraordinary, Lin Changkong’s cultivation and guidance had been just as important.

“Not bad. My painstaking efforts in raising and teaching you have not been wasted.”

Lin Changkong looked at Feng Qingyu with an extremely satisfied expression and praised her without restraint.

Feng Qingyu, however, looked humble.

“It is all thanks to Master’s guidance.”

“No, this is the result of your own hard work.”

Lin Changkong waved his hand, then seemed to remember something.

“By the way, have you given any thought to the Holy Son’s pursuit?”

When her master brought up the matter, a trace of hesitation appeared on Feng Qingyu’s face.

“Master, this disciple still intends to observe a while longer.”

“Observing longer is fine. I know that you are a careful thinker.”

“But he is, after all, the Holy Son. Even with me suppressing matters for now, in the end you will most likely still have to become the Holy Son’s dao companion.”

“Besides, becoming the Holy Son’s dao companion would not be a bad thing for you either.”

“In any case, think it over again.”

Half a year ago, Gu Tiansheng, the Holy Son of the current generation of Qingfeng Sacred Land, had come out of seclusion. After encountering Feng Qingyu by chance, he became infatuated with her and began pursuing her with great fervor.

Had it been anyone else, they might very well have agreed already.

But Feng Qingyu had not.

She knew that what was obtained too easily would soon be cast aside.

She wanted to keep Gu Tiansheng hanging, let him understand how difficult it was to win her, so that once they were together, he would cherish her properly.

“By the way, how do you plan to deal with your husband and your two children?”

At that moment, Lin Changkong suddenly spoke, causing Feng Qingyu’s heart to tremble.

Before she could answer, Lin Changkong continued, “Did you really think your master knew nothing of that little matter of yours?”

“I merely overlooked it before for your sake. But now that the Holy Son has taken a liking to you, you ought to deal with it.”

“After all, if the Holy Son were to find out, their end would only be even worse.”

“Master, I understand.”

After this year of tempering, Feng Qingyu’s heart had become exceedingly resolute.

She knew exactly what she wanted.

And before the immortal path, Lu Xunxian and the two children had to die!

“Master, they are my family, after all, so…”

“So you intend to spare them?”

“No. I intend to personally send them on their final journey.”

By the end of her words, a trace of reluctance appeared on Feng Qingyu’s face.

Seeing this, Lin Changkong stepped forward and patted Feng Qingyu on the shoulder.

“Disciple, you must understand that they are only mortals.”

“The moment you stepped onto the path of cultivation, you were destined to no longer belong to the same world as them.”

“Master, I understand.”

“So I ask Master to give me one month to deal with this matter.”

“In that case, go. Do you need me to arrange a Dao Protector for you?”

Lin Changkong asked.

Qingfeng Sacred Land might be powerful, but it was not without enemies.

If Feng Qingyu were allowed to go alone, she might encounter dangers she could not resolve by herself.

Faced with her master’s goodwill, Feng Qingyu did not refuse and accepted it.

“Then I shall trouble Master.”

Very soon, Feng Qingyu set out toward Conglin Village, accompanied by an Emperor Realm elder.

As Lin Changkong watched the scene, he could only hope in his heart that everything would go smoothly for Feng Qingyu.

Over the course of this year, he had gained a certain understanding of Feng Qingyu’s character.

He knew that she would stop at nothing to achieve her goals, so he was not worried that she would soften her heart.

And yet, for some reason, an inexplicable sense of unease remained in his heart the entire time.

Myriad Demons Mountain Range.

A tiger with golden fur was playing with two small children.

“Ow, Little Masters, a little gentler…”

Wangcai was extremely careful, afraid of injuring the two children, but the children did not know how to hold back at all and did only whatever delighted them.

“Wangcai, let's go!”

These two children were none other than Lu Xunxian’s own, named Lu Xiaoyao and Lu Qingyun.

Lu Xiaoyao exerted a little force and leapt directly onto the Heaven-Devouring Tiger’s back, then gave orders with all the bearing of a young lord.

Faced with his little master, Wangcai did not dare resist in the slightest. It was just about to spread its wings and take flight when a voice came from nearby.

“That is enough, Xiaoyao, Qingyun. Stop teasing Wangcai. It is time to eat.”

Lu Xunxian walked over from the side.

The moment he saw his father, the previously overbearing Lu Xiaoyao immediately did not dare act recklessly anymore.

He obediently climbed down from Wangcai’s back.

“Yes, Father.”

“Wangcai, you come to eat as well.”

Lu Xunxian glanced at the Heaven-Devouring Tiger and spoke.

“Yes, Master.”

Wangcai’s tone was incomparably respectful. Only it knew what it had gone through over the course of that year.

As the two children and the tiger returned to the house, Lu Xunxian lifted his head and glanced at the sky.

High above, two figures were rapidly passing through the air.

They were Feng Qingyu and the elder serving as her Dao Protector.

In the air.

Seeing Feng Qingyu come to a stop, the Dao Protector Elder asked in puzzlement, “What is it?”

“Nothing. Just my imagination.”

A moment ago, Feng Qingyu had felt as though someone were watching her.

But then she thought about it again.

The person beside her was an Emperor Realm elder. If even an Emperor Realm elder could not sense it, then there was even less chance that she could.

It should only have been her imagination.
